The Chandler Police Department Criminal Justice Week gives high school students an interactive, behind-the-scenes look at the criminal justice system and the many professionals who work within it.
Designed for high school juniors and seniors, this four-day program offered during school breaks goes beyond traditional law-enforcement topics by showing participants what happens after an arrest and how cases move through the justice system. Students will visit courts and other justice-related facilities, meet professionals working throughout the system, and learn how law enforcement, prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, probation officers, court staff, and other criminal justice professionals work together.
Throughout the program, students may participate in courthouse tours, observe court proceedings when available, hear directly from criminal justice professionals, and take part in discussions or activities focused on real-world cases, courtroom procedures, sentencing, probation, rehabilitation, and career opportunities.
Program locations may include the Chandler Municipal Court, probation services, Maricopa County courts, downtown Phoenix court facilities, and other criminal justice agencies or locations, depending on the scheduled activities.
What Students May Experience

*Presentations from judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, law enforcement personnel, and other criminal justice professionals
*An overview of how a criminal case moves through the justice system
*Discussions about constitutional rights, courtroom procedures, sentencing, probation, and rehabilitation
*Interactive activities and real-world criminal justice scenarios
*Information about careers, educational requirements, and opportunities throughout the criminal justice field
Program Goal
The goal of Criminal Justice Week is to help students better understand the entire criminal justice process, introduce them to the wide variety of careers available within the field, and provide meaningful opportunities to interact with the professionals who serve their community.
Who Can Apply
Criminal Justice Week is open to high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the criminal justice system, exploring career opportunities, and experiencing firsthand how different agencies and professionals work together.

*Location: Chandler Police Department Community Room, 250 E. Chicago Street
*Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
*Lunch: Provided each day
