Citizen Observer Program

About the Program

The Chandler Police Department offers the citizens of Chandler the opportunity to observe with a Police Officer or Dispatcher.

Police Officer observations entail going out on patrol with the officer for 5 hours which includes responding to calls for service, making citizen contacts and other daily duties.

Dispatch observations consist of a tour of the Communications Center and sitting with the Dispatcher as calls for service are processed.

You must reside, work, attend school in Chandler to be eligible for either observation. Observers are limited to one ride-along per year.

Observers must be at least 18 years of age.

How to Apply

You may obtain the application for a citizen observer ride along by submitting your request to citizenobserver@chandleraz.gov (please make this a hyperlink)

A link will be sent to you through Docusign for you to complete the application. Once you have completed the application and signed it through Docusign, click submit. When the application is received, a background check will be completed, and you will be contacted to schedule your observation. Please allow two weeks for processing.
