RTOC Uses Real-Time Camera Tracking to Locate Suspect in Multiple-Charge Investigation

October 5, 2026

RTOC assisted patrol officers with an initially reported unknown problem at a residence in the Chandler Heights Precinct involving an individual subject to an active Order of Protection. Operators leveraged department databases and real-time traffic camera technology to support the investigation. After obtaining relevant vehicle information, operators monitored traffic cameras to locate the individual as he left the residence. RTOC provided responding officers with timely information and continued tracking the vehicle’s movements through the camera network. When the vehicle entered a nearby business parking lot, operators relayed its location to officers, enabling them to locate and stop the suspect.  The investigation resulted in the suspect’s arrest on multiple felony charges, including domestic violence aggravated assault, burglary, animal cruelty, and aggravated DUI.

This incident demonstrates how RTOC’s technology and real-time coordination with patrol can help officers locate suspects, maintain situational awareness, and bring investigations to a safe and timely resolution.

Fleeing Vehicle Crash Leads to Multiple Felony Arrests

October 12, 2026

RTOC assisted patrol during an incident that began as an attempted traffic stop after officers observed a vehicle being driven erratically near the mall. When the driver failed to yield, officers disengaged as the vehicle continued onto the northbound Loop 101 freeway. Shortly afterward, RTOC monitored Live 911 activity and identified reports of a multi-vehicle collision near Price and Ray roads, where occupants were reportedly fleeing on foot. Using available traffic camera footage and real-time information sharing, RTOC connected the collision vehicle to the earlier failure-to-yield incident and immediately relayed that information to dispatch.

Responding officers located and detained three occupants following a brief area search. RTOC also provided a photograph obtained during the earlier incident, assisting officers in identifying the driver. The subsequent investigation revealed the occupants were also connected to a reported shoplifting incident at Macy’s. The investigation resulted in multiple felony charges, including narcotics-related offenses, as well as misdemeanor shoplifting charges.

This incident highlights RTOC’s ability to connect information across separate events as situations unfold, helping patrol quickly establish critical links, identify involved individuals, and advance complex investigations.

Traffic Cameras and Live 911 Help Locate a DUI Suspect

October 17, 2026

RTOC assisted patrol in locating a potentially impaired driver following a citizen report. By monitoring Live 911, operators gathered a description of the vehicle and used the traffic camera network to locate it as it traveled southbound. RTOC observed the vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane and provided real-time updates to patrol officers as it continued through the area and entered a nearby parking lot. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle, initiate a DUI investigation, and ultimately arrest the driver.

This incident demonstrates how RTOC combines citizen reports, real-time camera monitoring, and direct coordination with patrol to help identify potentially dangerous driving behavior and intervene before it can lead to further harm. By providing officers with timely information on the vehicle’s location and movements, RTOC helped support a coordinated response that promoted roadway safety and community protection.

Real-Time Camera Tracking Leads Officers to Suspect on High School Football Field

October 19, 2026

RTOC assisted patrol with a shoplifting investigation after a retail business reported a theft suspect who fled on foot. Using the traffic camera network, RTOC located the suspect in the surrounding area as responding officers arrived. When the suspect fled again, crossing a major roadway and entered a high school campus, RTOC operators maintained visual surveillance and provided officers with continuous, real-time updates on the suspect’s movements. The suspect eventually entered the football stadium, where patrol officers were able to locate and apprehend him.

This incident demonstrates how RTOC’s real-time camera monitoring and coordination with patrol can help officers maintain visual contact with fleeing suspects, track their movements across public areas, and support a coordinated response that brings incidents to a timely resolution.
