CHANDLER, AZ — What started as a call for service turned into an act of kindness when Chandler police officers noticed an elderly resident struggling to maintain her backyard. So, they decided to lend a hand.

During the call, officers saw that weeds had taken over the yard, some nearly as tall as the block fence surrounding the property. After speaking with the resident, officers learned she was unable to manage the yard work on her own.

Wanting to help, several officers returned during their shift with yard tools and spent time pulling weeds and clearing the space.

“People need help, specifically her, she needed help,” said Officer Marysol Green of the Chandler Police Department. “She can’t come out here and pull these weeds. So swing shift hit the road early and we came out here and started pulling weeds.”

The resident told officers she appreciated their hard work and was surprised so many came together to help.

The effort reflects the Chandler Police Department’s commitment to serving the community both on and off calls for service.
