Chandler Community Partners Come Together for Second Annual Youth CPR Training Event

CPR Training Event 2025

More than 150 teens gathered at the Chandler/Gilbert YMCA on Nov. 22, 2025 for the second annual Youth CPR Training Event, an expanding community partnership dedicated to equipping young people with lifesaving skills. The event brought together the Chandler Police Department, Chandler Fire & EMS, Chandler Aquatics, the YMCA, Dignity Health, and the Justice4Preston Lord Foundation, all committed to empowering the next generation to act in emergencies.

The training was inspired by the memory of Preston Lord, an East Valley teen who tragically died after a group assault on Halloween Eve in 2023. His mother, who helped create this event, has shared that CPR performed at the scene allowed Preston to live long enough for his family to say goodbye. Their hope is that by teaching teens CPR, more families will be given the same chance—or better yet, that lives will be saved before tragedy strikes.

Participants received hands-on instruction from trained professionals and left with a certificate that puts them on the path toward full CPR certification. For many youths, it was their first time learning how to respond in a cardiac emergency, use an AED, and recognize when swift action can make all the difference.

Chandler Police is proud to support this powerful community collaboration. By investing in our youth today, we are helping build a safer, stronger, and more prepared Chandler for the future.
