Since 1996, the Department has been an internationally accredited agency through a process administered by CALEA®. On July 10, 2017, an assessment team for CALEA® will begin an on-site assessment of the Chandler Police Department for the purpose of re-accreditation. Your attendance and comments regarding the Chandler Police Department’s ability to comply with the accreditation standards are encouraged and welcomed.

On April 14, 2017, around 1:00 PM, three Hispanic males committed an armed robbery in the 1200 block of N. Mesa Drive in the City of Mesa. Later that day, around 4:00 PM, the same three Hispanic male subjects committed a second armed robbery, this time in the Best Buy parking lot at 3100 W. Frye Road in Chandler. A witness who followed the suspect vehicle was also victimized.
The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will participate in a DUI Task Force with the Scottsdale Police Department beginning Thursday, May 4, 2017, through Saturday, May 6, 2017. A grant through the DUI Abatement Council is providing funding for this event.
On Monday, May 1, 2017, photo enforcement cameras at the intersection of McQueen and Queen Creek Road will be activated. The intersection will be monitored by photo enforcement cameras at the approaches for northbound and southbound traffic. In all, a total of 12 Chandler intersections are monitored with photo enforcement cameras under the City of Chandler’s photo enforcement vendor, American Traffic Solutions. All of these intersections are monitored for red light violations and speeding violations.

On March 30, 2017, around 11:00 p.m. the Islamic Center of the East Valley was burglarized. Earlier in the evening, the Masjid Bilal Rabah mosque in the town of Maricopa was also burglarized. Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for both burglaries.
