Detectives Make Arrest on a 1997 Cold Case

On May 17, 1997, 15-year-old Luis Andrea Parra died after he sustained a single gunshot wound while inside a residence located in the 400 block of North Delaware Street. The shooter, 21-year-old Venancio Cortez Miramontes, fled the residence before police arrived. Twenty-two years to the day of Parra’s death, Miramontes was arrested without incident.

Detectives Make Arrest on a 1997 Cold Case

Detectives from the Department’s Special Victim’s Unit arrested 43-year-old Adan Lopez-Perez for allegedly sexually assaulting a 22-year-old & 18-year-old back in 1997.

Cinco de Mayo DUI Task Force

Beginning Friday, May 3, 2019 through Sunday, May 5, 2019 the Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will participate in a Cinco de Mayo DUI Task Force with members of the Scottsdale and the Tempe Police Departments.

House Bill 2318

House Bill 2318 is effective immediately & affects three different laws though the portion of the bill that has received the most attention is the one prohibiting use of cell phones while driving. The law has several exceptions, & police cannot issue citations until January 1, 2021. Until then, police may still stop for such violations but can only issue warnings.

Craft Spirits Fest DUI Task Force & Know Your Limit Campaign

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will hold a DUI Task Force on Saturday, April 27, 2019 during the Craft Spirits Fest. Officers will also conduct the Know Your Limit educational awareness program at the Festival on the same day.
