Beginning Friday, May 3, 2019 through Sunday, May 5, 2019 the Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will participate in a Cinco de Mayo DUI Task Force with members of the Scottsdale and the Tempe Police Departments. Police officers from each Department will perform DUI only patrols throughout all three cities. The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) will provide funding for this event.
Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.
The goal of the Cinco de Mayo Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle while under the influence. You can help: If you witness impaired driving, call 911!
Remember to always wear your seatbelt and call for a ride when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.
