The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will participate in a DUI Task Force with the Scottsdale Police Department beginning Thursday, May 4, 2017, through Saturday, May 6, 2017. A grant through the DUI Abatement Council is providing funding for this event.

On Monday, May 1, 2017, photo enforcement cameras at the intersection of McQueen and Queen Creek Road will be activated. The intersection will be monitored by photo enforcement cameras at the approaches for northbound and southbound traffic. In all, a total of 12 Chandler intersections are monitored with photo enforcement cameras under the City of Chandler’s photo enforcement vendor, American Traffic Solutions. All of these intersections are monitored for red light violations and speeding violations.

On March 30, 2017, around 11:00 p.m. the Islamic Center of the East Valley was burglarized. Earlier in the evening, the Masjid Bilal Rabah mosque in the town of Maricopa was also burglarized. Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for both burglaries.

On Monday morning, April 10, 2017, 23-year-old Michael David Hart and 21-year-old Rafael Santos were involved in a shooting at 590 N. Alma School Rd. Both fled the scene and were apprehended the next day. Hart and Santos were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on numerous charges. Video from inside the Paisanos Barber Shop shows rounds enter the business through the front window, narrowly missing a four-year-old girl who was watching television.

On March 29, 2017, Chandler Police Department Detectives arrested five students from Hamilton High School and one student from Chief Hill Learning Academy for various crimes involving a hazing case. One student is an adult male and the other five … Continued

On February 11, 2017, an unknown adult white male fired his gun at an adult couple while they were walking through the Lowe’s parking lot at 7100 W. Ray Road. The unknown male fled in a black four-door pick-up. Investigators need help identifying the suspect. Silent Witness is offering up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of this suspect.

On February 28, 2017, 24-year-old Freddis Williams III was arrested for the murder of Shivaswamy Hosakote. Mr. Williams was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of 2nd degree murder.

On February 7, 2017, around 11:00 a.m. a male robbed the Bank of America located at 198 N. Alma School Rd.  The suspect entered the bank with a gun, passed a black leather backpack to a teller, and demanded money.  … Continued

On October 30, 2000, 33-year-old Douglas Miguel was found dead under a tree near a retention area in the 400 block of South Nebraska Street. A Medical Examiner’s report determined Douglas died of asphyxia due to strangulation. Douglas was at a local bar the previous evening and was seen in the area during the early morning hours of October 30 with a Hispanic male known by the moniker, ‘Puma’.
