Arrest Made in the L.A. Fitness Homicide

On the morning of August 18, 2016, Chandler Officers were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive male inside a vehicle at the L.A. Fitness parking lot, located at 2100 N. Dobson Road. When officers arrived on-scene, they found 84-year-old Shivaswamy Hosakote unresponsive inside of his vehicle with multiple stab wounds.  Shivaswamy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

In early September of 2016, detectives identified 24-year-old Freddis Williams III as an investigative lead.  Search warrants were executed on Mr. Williams’ Chandler residence, cellular phone, and his vehicle.

As a result of the physical evidence gathered by investigators, which occurred through various investigative techniques, enough probable cause developed to charge Mr. Williams with the murder of Shivaswamy Hosakote.  Mr. Williams was arrested in Phoenix on February 28, 2017 and was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of second degree murder.

On March 1, 2017 the Department held a press conference to announce the arrest:
