Commander Preston Pierce began his law enforcement career with the Chandler Police Department in 1999.
Throughout his career, Commander Pierce has held various roles within the department, ranging from Patrol and Property Crimes to the Bike Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
His vast experience in law enforcement, combined with his leadership skills, has inspired him to serve as a role model and mentor to young officers.
In 2015, Commander Pierce was promoted from Officer to Sergeant. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing a variety of teams in the Patrol Division and Bike Unit. He was also selected to serve as a Team Leader for SWAT, where he oversaw the sniper program.
He was later promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, where he managed both the Patrol Division and Property Crimes. In 2021, Commander Pierce was assigned to the Special Operations Section, where he managed and led as the SWAT commander, Detention Manager, and supervised the K9 program.
Commander Pierce then served as an Interim Commander in the Criminal Investigations Bureau before being officially promoted to Commander in 2024. He is currently assigned to the Chandler Heights Precinct.
Commander Pierce’s dedication and exceptional service have earned him numerous accolades, including the SWAT Operator of the Year award in 2013, a multi-year Meritorious Service Award, and several unit citations for his outstanding work with the Bike Unit and Property Crimes.
He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice studies in 2004. He has also volunteered at his local church for 17 years.
Additionally, Commander Pierce has served as a coordinator on the Mentor program board and as a member of both the Use of Force Board, and Special Events Committee.
His diverse experience and dedication to duty are a testament to his professionalism and passion for law enforcement, reflecting the highest standards of the department and inspiring those around him.
