Assistant Chief Dave Ramer began his law enforcement career with the Chandler police department in 1999, promoting to Assistant Chief in 2019. He has extensive experience in all aspects of policing, having worked and led various specialty assignments throughout his career at multiple levels. He currently oversees all patrol-based operations providing front line police services to over 280,000 Chandler residents. Throughout his career, Chief Ramer has championed community policing and fostered community partnership and participation.
Chief Ramer graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1999. He is a graduate of the 437th session of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police. Chief Ramer presently serves on the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Policy Center Advisory Group and the IACP Law Enforcement Touch Run Committee.
Chief Ramer has been active in various community groups most of his life, serving with the Scouts of America, Special Olympics, AZCEND and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. He has been recognized for his work in community engagement receiving various awards and is an Eagle Scout.
