Suspect Arrested After Killing His Grandmother

This morning around 3:30a.m. Chandler officers were dispatched to assist Chandler Fire personnel with a death investigation at an apartment at 375 N. Federal St.  Upon arrival officers located 81 year-old Helen Smith deceased inside the residence with a stab wound.

Phoenix Man Arrested for Multiple Counts of Child Molestation

On July 10, 2018, fifty-three-year-old Richard Allen Gallegos was arrested for multiple counts of child molestation stemming from incidents which allegedly occurred between 2009 and early 2011.   Gallegos was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on three counts of Molestation of a Child (F2), five counts of Sexual Conduct of a Minor (F2), and two counts of Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor (F3).

Detectives Need Help Identifying Burglary Suspect

In the early morning hours of April 16, 2018 a burglary occurred at a doctor’s office located at 393 W. Warner Rd. in Chandler. During the burglary, multiple credit cards were stolen.  These cards were then fraudulently used multiple times at various establishments throughout south Chandler. 

Remains of Jaime Laiaddee Located in Chandler

On June 21, 2018, human remains were discovered in the construction yard of a business located in an unincorporated portion of Chandler.  The body, an adult female, was severely decomposed. On June 28, 2018, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body as that of Jaime Laiaddee.

Detectives Still Trying to ID Body in 2002 Cold Case

On July 22, 2002, a body was discovered in a desert parcel near the 1500 block of East Appleby Road. The Department’s crime lab pulled fingerprints off the body, but were unable to make a positive identification.  Medical examiners were unable to make a positive identification from any practicing methods known at that time and ruled the cause of death as undetermined.

Chandler Police to Conduct July 4th DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will take part in a DUI Task Force over the July 4th weekend and will run from Saturday, June 30, 2018 through Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Remember; always wear your seatbelt, drive defensively and, if alcohol consumption is part of your holiday celebration, designate a driver or call for a ride.

Tips for a Safe July 4th Celebration

While buying and selling permissible consumer fireworks in the City of Chandler is legal, setting them off inside the City limits may not be.  Persons found in violation of the permissible consumer firework restrictions, or of setting off other than permissible consumer fireworks, will be subject to a criminal citation or complaint.

Chandler Police to Conduct Pedestrian Education and Enforcement Campaign

On Monday, June 4, 2018, the Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section & Bike Unit will conduct a citywide pedestrian/ bicyclist education and enforcement campaign.  The campaign’s mission is to increase pedestrian and bicycle safety, and in turn, reduce collisions involving these groups with motor vehicles.
