Chandler Police to Conduct July 4th DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will take part in a DUI Task Force over the July 4th weekend and will run from Saturday, June 30, 2018 through Wednesday, July 4, 2018.  Beginning June 30th through Monday, July 2nd, Chandler Police will team up with officers from the Scottsdale Police Department and the Tempe Police Department and conduct saturation patrols in select areas of the three jurisdictions.  A command post will be established on all three nights at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale.  Chandler officers will conduct saturation patrols in Chandler on July 3rd and July 4th with the command post to be determined.

Along with the saturation patrol on July 3rd, additional Chandler officers will team up with members of the Gilbert Police Department for the Know Your Limit campaign. Know Your Limit is a non-enforcement program designed to educate the public on the effects alcohol has on an individual’s blood alcohol level.  Qualified officers will provide attendees with the opportunity to blow into a portable breath tester (PBT) who will then be able to see how their alcohol consumption affects the amount of alcohol in their bloodstream.  The ultimate goal of the Know Your Limit program is to provide alcohol awareness to those who have consumed alcoholic beverages and help them to make informed choices before they get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

All participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.

Remember; always wear your seatbelt, drive defensively and, if alcohol consumption is part of your holiday celebration, designate a driver or call for a ride.  Please, get home safe.
