The Chandler Youth Academy is a one-week program for youths between 12 and 17.  This Academy allows participants to learn about various jobs and functions within the Department.  Officers from the Traffic Unit, Patrol Division, Bike Unit, K-9 Unit, and Special Assignment Unit present to the students.  Participants get involved with hands-on activities, providing a valuable learning experience and insight into police procedures.

 

 

The Youth Academy was developed to provide awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement.  The Academy’s ultimate goal is to foster relationships that will bridge the gaps between law enforcement and youth while introducing them to a possible career in law enforcement. 

 

 

The Department offers four Academies per year:

 

The first day of the Academy meets at the Department’s Main Police Station, 250 E. Chicago St. (click here for a map), and runs Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  On at least one or more of the days, the academy will be held at our Public Safety Training Center located at 3550 S Dobson Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248 (click here for a map)The SROs will review the week’s agenda on day one with the students.  There is no charge; lunch, drinks, and snacks are provided daily.  Space is limited; parents are responsible for registering their children, dropping them off, and picking them up at the appropriate locations and times.
