The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will participate in a DUI Task Force over the Halloween weekend with officers from Mesa, and Scottsdale.  The task force will begin on Saturday, October 28, 2017 and run through Halloween night, Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

On Saturday, Chandler officers will work with officers from the Scottsdale Police Department with saturation patrols in Chandler, and Scottsdale.  The Traffic Unit will focus their efforts in Chandler on Sunday, October 29th and Monday, October 30th with saturation patrols throughout the City of Chandler.  On Halloween night, Chandler officers will work with officers from Scottsdale and the Mesa Police Department with saturation patrols in Chandler, Scottsdale, and Mesa.  Saturday and Tuesday’s task force will be hosted by the Scottsdale Police Department with a command post at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS), through the DUI Abatement Council, will provide grant funding for the event.

Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  The goal of the Halloween Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence.

Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and either designate a driver or call for a ride when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.
