The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI Task Force over the Labor Day weekend. The task force will run from Friday, September 4, 2015, through Monday, September 7, 2015, and will conduct saturation patrols throughout the city. The DUI Abatement Council provided grant funding for the event.
On Saturday, September 5, 2015, the Traffic Unit will unveil two new platforms dedicated to the officers assigned to DUI enforcement. These two vehicles, funded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS), will be presented to the Department by AZGOHS Director, Alberto Gutier.
Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs. The goal of the Labor Day Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence.
Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.
