The Chandler Police Department is coordinating this year’s annual Cops on Top Hiking Expedition. Cops on Top is a nationwide program made up of teams of volunteers from the public safety and public service community. Each participating state hikes to the highest point in their respective state to honor the memories of those heroes who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting others. All participating hikers will summit their peak on June 27, 2015.
The Arizona team will ascend Humphrey’s Peak just north of Flagstaff. This year, the Arizona team is made up of 226 members representing 27 different public safety and public service agencies throughout the state. The group will hike to honor and remember all fallen officers, with a particular focus on the officers from Arizona who died in 2014.
