The Chandler Police Department will host the annual International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) 25th annual conference. The conference, which runs from April 11, 2015 through April 18, 2015, attracts public safety personnel from across the United States and overseas who specialize in police and emergency medical operations from the seat of a bicycle.
This event is an opportunity for new bicycle officers to acquire training and certification. It also provides existing bicycle officers the chance to hone their skills.
The utilization of police and emergency medical operations on a bicycle platform has a long and respected legacy in public safety throughout the United States. These officers, paramedics, and EMT’s are required to gain and maintain an advanced skill level on the bicycle in order to carry out their duties effectively.
In addition, conducting police operations from a bicycle gives officers the opportunity to interact with the community on a more personal level than traditional police patrol methods.
IPMBA is a non-profit educational organization providing resources, networking opportunities, and the most complete training for public safety bicyclists.
