The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be in Tempe on the campus of Arizona State University as a law enforcement participant in the GOHS annual Safe & Sober back to school campaign. Chandler officers will team up with other East Valley agencies to conduct saturation patrols on and around the campus with the goal of detecting impaired drivers. The Tempe Police Department is hosting this GOHS funded event.
The Safe & Sober campaign will run August 21, 2014 through August 23, 2014 and on consecutive weekends through September 6, 2014. The goal of this campaign is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence. Participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment from excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.
Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your plan.
