Public Safety Annual Open House – March 1, 2014

The Chandler Fire and Police Departments are joining together to hold a free public safety open house at both department headquarters on Saturday, March 1, 2014. The Fire Department open house will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 151 E. Boston Street, and the Police Department event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next door at 250 E. Chicago Street.

In addition to facility tours, a variety of fire apparatus and police vehicles will be on display at both headquarters, along with a vintage car and motorcycle show at the Police Department.  Fire personnel will demonstrate vehicle extraction techniques and rappelling performed by the Technical Rescue Unit, and Hands-Only CPRTM classes will be offered every half hour.  Police demonstrations will include the K-9 Unit and Tactical Robot Unit and there will be a free child fingerprinting id clinic.

Activities for children at the Fire open house include free balloons, coloring books, lil’ fire hats, the Fire Safety House, and appearances by department mascot, I STALO.  At the Police open house children will be able to have their faces painted, receive free balloons, popcorn, badge stickers and play in a bounce house.

Free parking is available within walking distance, including the City Hall garage at 240 S. Washington Street.  Please note that the annual Ostrich Festival Parade will be taking place the same morning, nearby along Arizona Avenue.
