Chandler Police Seeking Volunteer Applicants for Motorist Assist Position

The Chandler Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing Services program is currently seeking volunteers to become a part of our team as a Motorist Assist Volunteer.  These Volunteers respond to stranded motorists and assist officers at collision scenes, and other calls for service.  Motorist Assist Volunteers respond to parking violations, assist with vehicle lockouts, and patrol the neighborhoods of Chandler.

Applicants will be required to successfully complete a five week academy, which begins on March 31, 2014.  Academy classes run consecutively on Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Department’s Chandler Heights substation located at 4040 E. Chandler Heights Rd.  One Saturday class is scheduled for April 26, 2014.  Upon graduating on May 7, 2014, the Volunteer will receive fifty hours of hands-on field training.

This program is administered by the Department and has been recognized as an effective liaison in dealing with the community policing effort.  In 2013 alone over 60 volunteers dedicated more than 12,000 hours to the citizens of our community.

Interested parties must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License, and shall successfully complete a background investigation.  Applications are due by Monday, March 3, 2014.  Apply at the Department’s website, chandlerpd.com.
