On December 23, 2008 Chandler Police and Fire Department responded to 1270 W. Gail Dr. in Chandler for a report of a house fire. When firefighters entered the fully engulfed residence, they located an unidentifiable body. A medical examination determined the decedent was the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was later identified as 25-year-old Zachary Rowe.
During the course of the past five years, homicide detectives were able to identify two suspects: 29-year-old Rory Gene Coriell and 27-year-old William Hayden Crawford. Mr. Coriell and Mr. Crawford were both arrested in Phoenix by members of the Department’s Criminal Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Both were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of 1st Degree Murder.
