The Chandler Police Explorers Post will host their 16th annual Law Enforcement Explorer Tactical Competition on Saturday January 18, 2014 and Sunday January 19, 2014. Saturday’s events will begin at 7:00am and conclude at 9:00pm. Sunday’s schedule runs from 7:00am to 3:00pm. This competition will take place at various locations throughout Chandler. Competitive events include hostage negotiations, building searches, and pistol shooting.
While this event is closed to the public, media outlets are welcome to attend. The command center for the event will be located at the Chandler Fire Academy located at 3550 S. Dobson Rd. Information on select competitions, and maps to the venues, will be available.
Over 1,000 competitors from 58 different law enforcement agencies throughout the United States are registered for this year’s event. Explorer posts from as far away as Minnesota and Illinois will be in attendance to compete. Law enforcement explorer posts are sponsored by their affiliated police agency and Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Chandler Police Explorers Post is accepting new membership applications for young adults aged 14 to 19. Interested parties may attend an open recruitment night on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Department’s Chandler Heights substation located at 4040 E. Chandler Heights Rd. Information regarding application standards, program events, and participation opportunities will be discussed at the recruitment. This event begins at 6:00pm, and parents are encouraged to attend as well.
