On March 3, 2012 the Chandler Police Department will take part in the first annual Public Safety Day and Department Open House. The police and fire departments have joined forces to showcase the City’s proud public safety heritage. The event will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the police department’s main precinct at 250 E. Chicago Street.
A variety of departmental and city vehicles will be on display along with a car show featuring police and vintage cars, including a 1936 Dodge pumper. Demonstrations will be given by the department’s K-9 Unit, and Tactical Robot Unit. Fire crews will perform vehicle extrication, and the Pipes and Drums will perform throughout the day.
Officers from the police department’s many divisions will be available to speak with attendees. Guided tours of the police department will be held every half-hour, and the fire department administrative building will be open to tours for the duration of the event. Children will be able to have their faces painted and play in a bounce house; and the fire department will be offering CPR instruction.
