On November 22, 2011 around 8:00 pm a vehicle burglary occurred in the parking lot of 7151 W. Ray Rd. in Chandler. The assailant forced entry into a Chevrolet Cavalier and made off with a laptop computer, purse, and a backpack. Inside the backpack was an urn with the partial remains of the victim’s mother.
The victim carries the urn with her as a constant reminder of her mother, who recently passed away. The urn is heart shaped, about the size of a softball, and silver in color. Three doves are etched into the urn with hash marks at the bottom of the heart.
The urn was placed inside a Dr. Seuss backpack, which the victim’s mother purchased shortly before her passing. This backpack is black with red straw strings and has the characters Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the exterior of the backpack. These items are very unique and easily identifiable.
The victim is devastated over losing these priceless keepsakes and, with the coming holidays, would like nothing more than to have these items immediately returned to her. The Chandler Police Department is reaching out to the community and asking anybody with information regarding this incident to contact us at (480) 782-4130. The urn and backpack may also be anonymously returned to the Chandler Police Department for its return to the victim.
