The Chandler Police Department is currently registering participants for the next R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) class which teaches women defensive strategies and tactics to mitigate various types of assaults. This free, four session, self-defense course will begin on Monday, April 4 from 6-9 p.m.
The class combines both classroom instruction and hands-on training. These skills are practiced and developed throughout the course, culminating with simulated assault scenarios during the last class. These simulations provide participants an opportunity to use the skills they have developed in a safe training environment.
Participants must wear tennis shoes and appropriate workout attire. No jewelry should be worn in class. You must be 18 to participate, or 12-15 year olds can participate with a parent or 16-17 year olds can participate with a signed permission slip from parent.
The class requires a minimum of ten participants. Please ensure that you are available for all four sessions (4/4, 4/6, 4/11 and 4/13) as cancellations detract from the comprehensive training. For more information or to enroll in the upcoming class, please contact the Crime Prevention Unit via email or call 480-782-4962.
