On Monday December 13, 2010 at 8:13 AM officers responded to 1231 West Whitten to assist Chandler Fire Department with an unresponsive seven month old female. The child was transported to a local hospital where medical staff determined she had a skull fracture and bleeding on her brain. Due to the nature of her injuries she was then airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in critical condition. At the time of the call the child was in the care of her father, Sergio Thomas, a Chandler resident. (21 years old)
At 7:01 AM this morning the 7 month old child died as a result of her injuries. Sergio Thomas has been charged with two counts of child abuse and one count of first degree murder. Booking photo attached.
