On November 22, 2010 at approximately 4:00 P.M. a female suspect pointed a gun at a 15-year-old girl walking home from school in the 300 E. block of Chandler Blvd and stole her cell phone. At approximately 5:00 P.M. that afternoon, the same suspect attempted to rob a 38-year-old mother who was in the process of securing her two children in the backseat of her car in a parking lot in the 3000 West block of Chandler Blvd. During the robbery attempt, the 38-year-old mother fought off her attacker who then fled in a vehicle. Nearby witnesses obtained the suspect’s license plate.
At approximately 5:30 P.M. Chandler Police located the vehicle near Frye Road and Hidalgo Street where the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has been identified as 20-year old Jessica Ann Vaughn, a Chandler resident, and has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault as well as one count of misdemeanor hit and run.
