G.A.I.N. – National Night Out
October 22, 2016 @ 15:00 - 20:00
Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods
G.A.I.N. stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods. G.A.I.N. is Arizona’s version of National Night Out. National Night Out is a night where communities participate in anti-crime and drug prevention programs. Arizona’s event takes place annually in October, and it is an annual statewide crime prevention celebration. Not only does G.A.I.N. strengthen ties within the community, it is also an opportunity for the police department to show its appreciation for community support of the Police Department’s efforts in the fight against crime. The celebrations or block parties, take place in various neighborhoods and multi-housing communities throughout the city. Police officers make scheduled visits to the different G.A.I.N. celebrations upon request. Other resources available for request are Handy the Graffiti Buster, McGruff the Crime Fighting Dog, the Mobile Command Center, Special Assignment Unit and other department vehicles, as well as, the popular K9 police officers and their K9s. It’s not too early to begin planning your G.A.I.N. event. This is an excellent time to strengthen community partnerships by joining together for food, music fun, and games! Here are some of the main reasons we have G.A.I.N.
- Show support for the efforts of those involved in the fight against crime
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
