Fireworks; What’s Legal & What Isn’t

With the upcoming July 4th holiday, the Chandler Police Department would like to provide the following information related to fireworks:

While buying and selling permissible consumer fireworks in the City of Chandler is legal, setting them off inside the City limits may not be.  Permissible consumer fireworks do not go into the air or explode and these types of fireworks may be used in Chandler beginning June 24, 2020 through July 6, 2020. However, their use is restricted to private property, with the permission of the property owner.  Setting off permissible consumer fireworks on public property – such as city streets, sidewalks, or parks – is not legal.

The popular novelty items are not regulated and can be sold and used in Chandler.  These include small sparklers, smoke devices, snakes, party poppers, and other similar products.

Persons found in violation of the permissible consumer firework restrictions, or of setting off other than permissible consumer fireworks, will be subject to a criminal citation or complaint.
