Gilbert Couple Arrested for High-Dollar Burglary

On Friday, February 7, 2020, 27-year-old Christian Propst and 35-year-old Margo Barre broke into a storage unit at 480 S. Arizona Ave. and stole a gun safe with 15 guns inside. Along with the safe, Propst and Barre stole antique and art pieces valued at $75,000. The entire burglary was captured on video surveillance.

During the investigation, Propst and Barre were identified as the suspects.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2020 members of the Department’s Criminal Apprehension Unit located Propst and Barre inside their residence at 3372 S. 147th Pl. in Gilbert. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to contact Propst and Barre inside the home, the Department’s S.W.A.T. team arrived on-scene to affect a safe arrest. Propst and Barre were taken into custody after the two fell through the ceiling of the home.

Propst and Barre were booked into jail on multiple felony charges to include 3rd degree burglary, theft, and criminal damage. Propst was on probation for a prior narcotics offense.

Propst remains in-custody with no bond. Barre was released from custody.
