Alert Patrol Officer Nabs Vehicle Burglary Suspect

On Tuesday, December 4, 2019 around 2:45 AM, Officer N. Townsend, a Chandler Patrol Officer assigned to the Main Station Precinct, was conducting a routine patrol in a residential neighborhood near Alma School Road and Elliot Road.  He noticed a Ford pick-up truck parked in a residential driveway with the driver’s side door open.  Officer Townsend contacted the vehicle owner who confirmed someone had rifled through the inside of his vehicle.

Officer Townsend went in search of additional victims and located an adult male checking a car door parked in the driveway of a residence near McNair Street and Chilton Street.  Officer Townsend contacted the individual, who initially provided a false name.  After speaking further with the individual he learned the subject’s true identity: 25-year-old Jonathan Stuber.

Further investigation revealed Stuber was the subject who burglarized the Ford pick-up.  Property which belonged to a third vehicle was found on Stuber as well.  Three surveillance videos downloaded onto the Ring Neighbors App by nearby residents captured Stuber as he walked through the neighborhood and checked door handles on cars.

Stuber was booked into the Chandler/ Gilbert Unified Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Burglary, and Obstruction-Refuse to Provide True Name.  Stuber also had two outstanding arrest warrants from the Mesa Police Department.  Stuber is currently on probation for burglary.
