Traffic Section to Conduct Labor Day DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will participate in a DUI Task force over the Labor Day weekend.  On Friday, August 30, 2019 and Sunday, September 1, 2019 the Department will work with the Scottsdale Police Department, conducting saturation patrols in both cities.  For both evenings, the command post will be located at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale.

On Saturday, August 31, 2019, the Department will work with the Gilbert Police Department, conducting saturation patrols in both cities.  The command post will be located at Gilbert Road and Baseline Road.  On Monday September 2, 2019 the Traffic Section will focus their efforts in Chandler.  The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has provided grant funding for this event.

Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  The goal of the Labor Day Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences resulting from their poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence occur.

Remember, always wear your seatbelt, drive defensively, and either designate a driver or call for a ride when alcohol consumption is part of your holiday celebration.

Please, get home safe.
