Alert Witness Helps Police Nab Burglary Suspect, 2nd Suspect Still On the Loose

On August 26, 2019 around 2:00PM, a burglary occurred at a residence in the 2600 block of North Yucca Street.  A witness observed a white male run out of the residence carrying a black duffel bag.  This suspect jumped into the passenger seat of a silver Toyota Scion.  The Scion, which was driven by a second suspect, fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

This witness followed the suspect vehicle and took a photograph of the license plate.  The plate returned to a 2010 Toyota Scion registered to 40-year-old David Brown of Mesa.  Brown’s physical features and driver’s license photo match the description of the suspect who ran out of the home during the burglary.

Later in the evening, detectives found the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in Mesa.  As they walked up to the vehicle they were immediately confronted by Brown, who was watching from the back patio of his apartment.  Once detectives learned his identity, Brown was placed under arrest for the burglary.

On August 27, 2019, Brown was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of 1st Degree Criminal Trespass and one count of 2nd Degree Burglary.  Brown has since been released from custody.

Investigators have identified the driver of the Scion; 39 year-old Chuck Braster of Chandler.  Detectives are actively searching for Braster.  If you have any information related to the whereabouts of Chuck Braster, please contact Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS (948-6377).  Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of Chuck Braster.
