Traffic Section to Conduct Halloween DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will participate in an upcoming Halloween DUI Task Force with the Scottsdale Police Department.  The task force will begin the weekend prior to Halloween along with October 30th and Halloween night.

On Friday, October 26, 2018 and Saturday, October 27, 2018, Chandler officers will team-up with the Scottsdale Police Department with saturation patrols in each city.  A command post will be established at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale for these two evenings.  On Tuesday, October 30th and Halloween night, the Traffic Section will focus their efforts within the city of Chandler.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) will provide grant funding for this event.

Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  The goal of the Halloween Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence.

Please remember; drive defensively, wear your seatbelt, and if alcohol consumption will be part of your Halloween celebration, call for a ride.  Please, get home safe.
