On Saturday, May 5, 2018 the Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Section will participate in a DUI Task Force with the Scottsdale Police Department with a command post at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale. Chandler Police will conduct enhanced DUI enforcement on Thursday, May 3, 2018 and Friday, May 4, 2018. This enhanced DUI enforcement will occur throughout the city and will utilize the Department’s DUI mobile minivan on Thursday evening and a command post Friday evening at the Department’s Main Station Precinct located at 250 E. Chicago St.
A grant through the DUI Abatement Council will provide funding for this event.
Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs. The goal of the Cinco de Mayo Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from their poor decision to operate a vehicle while under the influence.
