Police Seek Identity of Jewel Thief

Detectives from the Chandler Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit are investigating the theft of a diamond and need help identifying the suspect.  On Saturday, August 19, 2017, an unidentified black male walked into the Ben Bridge jewelry store inside the Chandler Fashion Mall and inquired about purchasing a diamond.  At the suspect’s request, a store employee presented him with a loose diamond for inspection.   Rather than inspecting the diamond for quality, the suspect grabbed the diamond, and walked out of the store.

The stolen diamond is 2.11 carets and is valued at sixteen thousand dollars.

The suspect was wearing a white pinstriped dress shirt with black dress pants and a multicolored bowtie.  He is between 18 to 30 years of age and is average in build with an earring in his left ear.  After the theft, the suspect ran out of the mall and entered into a green or gray Jeep SUV.

If you have any information regarding the identification of this suspect, please contact either the Chandler Police Department at (480) 782-4130, or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS (948-6377).  Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of this suspect.
