Chandler Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Shotgun Used In Homicide

Chandler Police seeks the public’s help with information leading to the recovery of a shotgun used in a homicide last night. On April 1, 2017, Chandler Police responded to 764 E. Chandler Boulevard reference a shooting. On arrival, officers found the victim 24 year old Christian Acosta shot outside the residence. Acosta had been shot one time with a shotgun and was pronounced deceased on scene. During this investigation, Detectives were able to identify 25 year old Delano Marquis Ortiz as the suspect. Ortiz was arrested later that night and is being charged with Second Degree Murder.

Police had information the shotgun used in the murder was discarded inside a dumpster at 120 N. McQueen Road. Detectives searched extensively and did not locate the weapon Because of this, there is a possibility that someone found the shotgun and kept it. The shotgun is of extreme evidentiary value to our Detectives and not to mention it is also dangerous to have this weapon out on the street.
