Traffic Unit to Participate in Scottsdale DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will team up with other Valley departments in a DUI Task Force in Scottsdale beginning Thursday, February 2, 2017, through Saturday, February 4, 2017.  A command post will be available at 7250 E. Indian Bend Road in Scottsdale.  Officers will also conduct a Know Your Limit event at 8100 E. Bell Road in Scottsdale on February 3rd and February 4th.

On Sunday, February 5, 2017, the Traffic Unit will conduct saturation patrols throughout Chandler.  There will not be a command post.  The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) provided grant funding for all events.

Participating officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  The goal of the Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the road before the damaging, and often tragic, consequences that result from the poor decision to operate a vehicle under the influence.

Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your celebration.
