On the evening of April 7, 2016 18-year-old Cody Gibson assaulted an unknown Native American female inside the Jack-In-The-Box restaurant located at 955 E. Riggs Rd. After being assaulted inside the restaurant, the female walked outside towards the parking lot of the Fry’s Food & Drug store at 985 E. Riggs Rd. Mr. Gibson followed the female and, after catching up to her, dragged the female back towards the Jack-In-The-Box by her hair. Mr. Gibson and the female then entered a white Honda SUV, which was parked in the Jack-In-The-Box parking lot.
Two males driving through the parking lot witnessed this assault and decided to intervene on behalf of the female. As the driver of the vehicle attempted to block the suspect from leaving the parking lot with his vehicle, the passenger exited the vehicle to contact Mr. Gibson and the unknown female, both of whom were still inside the Honda SUV. Mr. Gibson then allegedly struck the male with his vehicle and fled the scene. The male who tried to intervene on behalf of the female sustained life threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Cody Gibson is approximately five-feet nine-inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds.
While a number of witnesses came forward and spoke with first responders, investigators believe there are others who witnessed the event and have not spoken to police.
