Chandler Police to Conduct July 4th DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI Task Force over the July 4th weekend.  The task force will run from Thursday, July 2, 2015 through Saturday, July 4, 2015.

On July 2, 2015, Chandler officers will conduct saturation patrols within the City of Chandler.  Chandler officers will team up with officers from Mesa and Gilbert to conduct saturation patrols in select areas of all three cities on July 3, 2015.  The three agencies will share a command post at Gilbert and Baseline Roads.

Chandler officers will also participate in the Know Your Limit educational awareness campaign on July 3, 2015.  This event will occur at various bars and drinking establishments inside Chandler.  Know Your Limit is a non-enforcement program designed to educate the public on the effects alcohol has on an individual’s blood alcohol level.

Grant funding for the Know Your Limit program is provided by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).

On July 4, 2015, Chandler and Gilbert officers will conduct saturation patrols in select areas of their respective jurisdictions coinciding with each city’s fireworks events.  The two agencies will share a command post at Ray and Cooper Roads.

Participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.
