Chandler Police to Conduct Memorial Day DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI Task Force over the Memorial Day weekend.  The task force will run from Friday, May 22, 2015 through Monday, May 25, 2015.  The DUI Abatement Council provided grant funding for the event.

Chandler officers will team up with officers from the Gilbert Police Department to conduct saturation patrols in select areas of the two cities on May 22, 2015.  Chandler and Gilbert will share a command post at Val Vista and Warner Roads in Gilbert.

On May 23, 2015, Chandler will once again team up with officers from the Gilbert Police Department, along with officers from Mesa, Tempe, and Scottsdale.  Saturation patrols will ensue in select areas of each respective jurisdiction with a joint command post at 2330 W. Rio Salado Drive in Mesa. (This is the parking lot of the Chicago Cubs spring training facility.)

On May 24 and May 25, 2015, Chandler officers will conduct saturation patrols within the City of Chandler. Participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment from excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.

Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.  A special thanks to our nation’s veterans for their service and sacrifice here at home and overseas.

Happy Memorial Day!
