Chandler Police to Conduct July 4th DUI Task Force

The Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit will conduct a DUI Task Force over the July 4th weekend.  The task force will run from Thursday, July 3, 2014 through Saturday, July 5, 2014.  The DUI Abatement Council provided grant funding for the event.

Chandler officers will team up with officers from Mesa and Gilbert to conduct saturation patrols in select areas of all three cities on July 3, 2014.  The three agencies will share a command post at 1950 S. Country Club Drive in Mesa.  On July 4, 2014, Chandler and Gilbert officers will conduct saturation patrols in select areas of their respective jurisdictions coinciding with each city’s fireworks events.  The two agencies will share a command post at Gilbert and Germann Roads.

On July 5, 2014, Chandler officers will participate in the East Valley DUI Task Force with a command post at 7601 E. McKellips Road in Scottsdale.  Chandler officers will conduct saturation patrols within the City of Chandler that night.

Participating Chandler officers are specially trained in the detection of roadway impairment for excessive alcohol consumption and use of illicit or excessive prescription drugs.  Please remember to always wear your seatbelt and to designate a driver when alcohol consumption is a part of your holiday celebration.
