Police Apprehend Serial Bank Robber

On December 29, 2012 the U.S. Bank at 1159 W. Chandler Bl. was robbed by an unknown male who passed a robbery note to the bank teller.  Six days later a second U.S. Bank at 2935 E. Riggs was robbed by a male using a similar M.O.  On January 7, 2013 a Wells Fargo Bank at 10325 E. Riggs Rd. in Sun Lakes was robbed.  The suspect was, again, a male who passed a robbery note to the bank teller.

Investigators from the Chandler Police Department and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office developed probable cause against 25-year-old Michael Schraeder in all three robberies.  On January 9, 2013 Mr. Schraeder was arrested without incident in Chandler by members of the Department’s Criminal Apprehension Unit.  He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of Robbery and two counts of Armed Robbery.  Mr. Schraeder is being held on a $45,000 bond awaiting a January 17, 2013 court appearance.
