On January 8, 2013 at around 11:33 am officers responded to the 1200 block of W. Park Lane Boulevard for a reported burglary in progress. An area check was initiated and an officer subsequently contacted an individual matching the general description of the outstanding suspect. It was determined he was not involved in the burglary; but the subject, Tyler Jeffrey Dotson (26yo), was found to be in possession of narcotics and disclosed to the officer he had left a 3-month-old child unattended in his apartment.
Concerned for the child’s safety, officers responded to the suspect’s apartment at 875 W. Pecos Rd. to conduct a welfare check and did in fact locate a 3-month-old child in the unlocked apartment. Responding officers took it upon themselves to change the baby’s diaper and fed him. The mother was later located at work and responded to the apartment to take custody of her child. CPS has been notified. The burglary report was taken by other officers.
Dotson was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on drug charges and child neglect.
