Melanie Slate, the Community Outreach Coordinator for the City of Chandler Police Department, has received the LUCIA CAUSEY EXCELLENCE IN VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AWARD. Melanie was selected from among all the non-profit and government volunteer coordinators in Central Arizona.
This award honors a volunteer program administrator who reflects the high ideals of the profession and whose dedicated efforts allow volunteers to produce significant achievements. The award is named for Lucia Causey, who, as former Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Maricopa County, past President of Valley of the Sun DOVIA, and founder of the Corporate Volunteer Council, did so much to promote volunteerism. She also advised, trained, and mentored many individuals working in the field of volunteer management.
