Traffic Unit Receives Seatbelt and Speed Enforcement Grant

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has awarded the Chandler Police Department’s Traffic Unit with a $40,000 grant to encourage seatbelt use.  The grant will also fund additional enforcement of moving violations which contribute to serious injury and fatal collisions.  These violations include speeding, red light running, and failing to yield properly on a left turn.

This grant intends to combat two consequences of serious injury and fatal collisions: injury and loss of human life, and personal and insurance costs related to property damage.  Officers participating in this grant solely focus on traffic enforcement and are specially trained in collision investigations.  The enforcement measures will occur at various locations throughout the city.
