Three Arrested for Stealing a Car in Sun Lakes – Updated

Update: Thanks to a good samaritan, Joey has been safely returned to his owner.

The Chandler Police and a Sun Lakes woman are asking for the public’s help in locating her dog Joey.  Carol Denmead’s Red 2005 Pontiac was stolen from outside the Walgreens store near Alma School and Riggs Road around 10:30 AM Thursday, June 16, 2011, while her dog, Joey, was in the car.

She had gone into the store for a few minutes and left the car running with the air conditioning on when the car was stolen with Joey still in the car.

On Thursday, June 16, 2011, at about 11:15 PM. Chandler Police located the stolen car in the area of Gilbert and Riggs Roads and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Three occupants in the car were taken into custody; the dog Joey was not in the vehicle.  During interviews, the occupants provided no information to officers about the location of Joey.  At this hour, Chandler Police officers are searching the area of the suspects’ homes south of Chandler and
the area of the traffic stop in an effort to locate the dog.  Joey is about 12 years old and needs medication for seizures; he is very friendly and approachable. Joey is described as overweight, with white fur on the chest and dark fur on his back, with light brown ears and face.

Chandler Police are asking for help in locating Joey and getting him back to his owner safely.  If you locate Joey or have any information, please call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
