Rita C. Dyas is currently the Forensic Services Manager for the Chandler Police Department. She has been working in the field of forensic science since 1991 with experience in all levels of forensic science including analytical, lead, supervisory, project management and budgeting.
Rita began her forensic career with the Kentucky State Police Forensic Laboratory where she spent more than 11 years before relocating to Arizona. She spent 3 years with the Arizona Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory prior to joining the Chandler Police Department. Since arriving at the Chandler PD Forensic Services Section in 2005, Rita has remained focused on improving the overall effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of the crime lab. She led the lab to become the first Arizona municipal lab to obtain international forensic accreditation through the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
Rita obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science and Chemistry and a minor in Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters of Administration degree in Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She is also a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) leadership development training program. Rita is an active member of the AZ Crime Lab Directors group, AZ Forensic Quality Managers group and the Attorney General’s Forensic Science Advisory Committee. She is also serving on the Executive Board of Directors of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD).
